NPSA guidelines
The need for improved patient identification was highlighted by the NPSA, calling for and end to hand writing in favour of printed information, including bar coded NHS number. Here are some patient identification solutions available from Codegate.
LabelTrace
Whilst LabelTrace was developed for general practices, it can be equally applied to hospital use, where it can be used to print patient wristbands, and sample & requesting labels.
Portable wristband re-printer
Used in conjunction with LabelTrace this is a convenient way of re-printing a patient's wristband by simply scanning the 2d bar code on the current wristband. LabelTrace can thus be installed in the patient reception area, whilst the portable wristband printer is used in wards and clinics, wherever it may be necessary to temporarily remove a wristband.
