Plymouth PCT deploy LabelTrace
14/01/2011
Plymouth PCT has completed the deployment of LabelTrace label printing software across 23 GP practices. Between 6 and 8 printers were installed per practice, slashing the time taken to print specimen labels and pathology forms.
LabelTrace was the only solution that was compatible with all GP systems supported by the PCT, including EMIS, INPS Vision and iSOFT.
Roy Craft, ICT Support Manager at Plymouth PCT: “We were already aware of successful deployments of LabelTrace in other regions, especially in neighbouring Devon PCT where it is used in over 100 practices.”
In addition to saving time at the practice LabelTrace helps to ensure all specimens sent to the lab are printed with the minimum data set recommended by the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), including bar coded NHS number, full name, gender and date of birth. This qualitative improvement pays additional dividends in reduced processing time and fewer queries at the lab.
Roy Craft concludes “This augments Plymouth Hospital plans to ultimately scan samples into the laboratory process for greater efficiency and accuracy”.
