Audience Participation
Encourage greater responsiveness
How many of us are prepared to stand up and ask questions at the end of a presentation?
Most people do not feel comfortable asking questions, leaving it to a vocal minority who might not be representative of the true feeling of the audience.
Instead of being asked to switch phones off delegates are encouraged to keep them on and contribute with questions throughout the presentation. Text messaging encourages much greater feedback because individuals' anonymity is retained, and questions can posed at the time the query arose, rather than at the end.
A mediator or session host can pick up the text queries in real time, to be both collated for listing at the end and superimposed on the bottom of the screen as the presentation progresses - allowing the speaker to incorporate responses into the rest of the presentation.
At award ceremonies, encouraging testing can add voice to an audience's view of the results.
